The Rainbow Trout in Alaska’s rivers are native born. These Trout provide the ultimate fishing adventure. The Talachulitna River has been mandated to a strict catch an realease only policy for over 10 years! The result is high numbers and BIG fish!!! Some of the best holes are only a stone throws distance away from your cabin and main lodge. We do really well fishing for these big “bows” after the spawns. These fish become very active feeding on the high number of roe and salmon flesh available in the rivers. Fly fishermen have great success with flesh flies and egg patterns. Spin fishermen catch them on all sorts of spinners, spoons, jigs, etc…. We highly recommend a 6-weight fly rod while fishing for the Rainbows. You are welcome to bring your favorite trout rod, or we have quality outfits waiting for you to use at the lodge. The pure strength these fish have is something to marvel. It is possible to land an 6-8 pound Rainbow on our guided fishing trip.
